The CheckPosted: February 4, 2014
Early in his career, actor/comedian Jim Carey wrote himself a check for $10 million, post-dated for 10 years later. The first time he was able to actually cash that check was on the very date he’d written.
I like it. I like the audacity. I like how a vision this gutsy expands what’s possible. I’ve also experienced and witnessed how a vision this specific is more likely to happen, even without a detailed action plan for accomplishment. So I’ve written my own check for $6 million to cash on August 22, 2014.
While my dream really is about more than money, The Check is already shaping my daily choices. I’ve become an enthusiastically roaring creative force. (Duck!) I’ve revised my business plan to chart a course toward more expansive thinking. (I’m also staying open to possibilities I’ve not yet imagined.) I’m easily declining what doesn’t further my vision. I’m recruiting collaborative partners and funding to expedite it all.
The most wonderful things I’ve experienced began as the most absurd, bold, gallsy, gutsy ideas.
